I just finished watching a documentary on the History channel called "King". It was about Martin Luther King Jr.
It was a wonderful documentary that delved not only into King's involvement and leadership of the civil rights movement, but also his personal life.
It even talked about J. Edgar Hoover's involvement in trying to bring King down and destroy everything that he had worked so hard for, even his family. It also showed that, towards the end, King may have known or felt that he was going to die.
Through this documentary, I found out that when King took a stand against the war in Vietnam, a lot of his supporters turned their backs on him, including the NAACP.
It also pointed out that although he made great strides, his work is not done and must continue on. And, it must.
Martin Luther King, Jr. is a true American hero and his assassination was a tragedy. I can't help but wonder what more he could have been able to accomplish if intolerance, ignorance, and hate had not stolen him away, as it has so many other great people and things.
This documentary was wonderful and I highly recommend watching it if you get the chance. I'm sure the History channel with be replaying it.
